Most people prefer to visit the Everglades in the winter. Winter is our dry season and there are less insects during the winter months. This is a big plus for most people, since there are fewer mosquitoes. Temperatures are cooler and skies are usually a brilliant blue during this time of year. It is advisable to bring a jacket or sweater during the winter months. It can get quite chilly on the airboat ride or on the trip into the Ten Thousand Islands.
Summer months are warmer in the Everglades. This is the quiet time for the Everglades. Life slows down dramatically but doesn’t stop. The alligators will seek shade and cooler locations as the day progresses. Beneficial summer rains replenish the wetlands which sustain the biota of our region.
